JOIN TAOS SEARCH & RESCUE

Becoming a member of Taos Search and Rescue means joining a team of individuals committed to serving the community with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. Individual heroism and recognition are not what SAR work is about. While each person does play a vital role on a mission, it is only through teamwork and cooperation that a search or rescue succeeds.
In order to maintain and improve their skills, members are expected to attend regular trainings in wilderness survival, first aid, navigation, radio communication, and search and evacuation techniques. Trainings are also offered in specialities such as high angle technical rescue, swift water rescue, K-9 search, and mounted search.

If you enjoy a challenge, want to serve your community in an active way, and consider yourself a teamplayer, press the TSAR Application link below. Read through the brief certification and gear/equipment requirements in order to understand our application and certification process. If you decide you would like to join Taos Search and Rescue, fill out the Application for Membership form at the top of the Application page and press the submit button.

Or, you can join us for one of our monthly General Meetings to ask questions, receive more information, meet the team, and pick up a hard copy of the application. The schedule for these meetings can be found on the Training page or you may visit the Contact TSAR page to reach someone by telephone or e-mail.
